Apple Roses
Last weekend when it was cold outside, there was nothing else to do but bake. There's a recipe I've seen floating around Facebook from multiple sources for Apple Roses. They were so pretty I knew I had to make them. I bought the puff pastry 2 months ago, but they've been sitting in my freezer since. So, with nothing better to do, I finally made them. They turned out so pretty and tasty, I was so proud of myself I immediately texted my sister. After exchanging funny pictures of our excited facial expresions we both decided I was pretty awesome.
I thought they were going to be super hard to make, but was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was. Here's how you do it:
Apple Roses
Ingredients:
-Puff Pastry
-Apples
-Lemon Juice
-Peach Preserves
-Cinnamon
-Water
Directions:
1. Cut your apples in half and core them.
2. Cut your apples into very thin slices.
3. Place sliced apples immediately into a microwave safe bowl with about 1 Tbsp of lemon juice and 1/2 cup of water.
4. Microwave apple slices for 3 minutes until soft. Some websites make this step optional, but it's really a necessity in order to make them pliable enough to work with.
5. Mix your peach preserve with a splash of water in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute to make it easier to spread.
6. Sprinkle a pinch of flour onto your counter and roll out your thawed puff pastry dough to 1/4 inch thick. If you forgot to thaw out your puff pastry dough, no worries it only takes like 20-30 minutes.
7. Cut your puff pastry into 5-6 strips.
8. Using a brush, spread out your preserve misture across one of the strips.
9. Place your apple slices on the top half of the puff pastry strip cut side down.
10. Fold puff pastry in half to cover the cut side of the apple slices. Just the tops of the apple slices should be visible.
11. Roll your puff pastry and apples from one side and place into a buttered muffin pan. Isn't it the cutest thing ever!?
12. Repeat steps 8-11 until all of your apples or puff pastry are gone.
13. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Skip if you don't like cinnamon, but I love cinnamon with apples.
14. Place roses into a preheated oven at 375 degrees F for 35-45 minutes.
15. Let cool and show off your amazing talents to all of your friends. Serve with powdered sugar sprinkled on top or cool whip.
Your friends will think you slaved all day, but you will know the truth that you didn't. I think they are even cuter cooked. They were so yummy too! You have to make these at your next dinner party or just to show of to your husband.
What's your favorite go to dessert? Do you have any desserts you always make when you need to show off?
