Things that Make me Wanna Dance
Welcome to June, another crazy month in the life of a first year teacher. If you thought the students were banana sandwiches at the beginning of the year or around Christmas, think again. They don't hold a candle to the end of the year!
I actually work for this awesome private school with an amazing group of youngins. I know you probably think I'm supposed to say that, but it's really true. Working in a place where people believe in me and are excited that I'm there is a new experience for me. I always assumed I must be a difficult person to work with because I really never got a long with my coworkers, but it must have just been that I hadn't found my niche yet. They even gave me the opportunity to coach their volleyball team. The girls on my team have so much heart and passion for the sport that I can't even explain it. They're troopers and made my first year of coaching so much fun. We recently had our athletic banquet and I got to reflect on the season which made me unbelievably excited about next season because most of the girls are returning.
However, one of the main reasons I have been so busy and excited to dance is because Brad and I found out we're going to be parents! That's right, I'm pregnant! We did a big Mother's Day announcement with his step dad's family and took a few pictures in our backyard. We have been so excited and caught up into the thrill of the moment. First trimester I was too tired to do anything which is why I was so slack at the end of March and most of April.
In May we have been not only doing your normal maintenance as homeowners, but have been trying to get the nursery ready in small steps too. My sister gave us a crib and I already had a dresser and a desk which my parents converted into a changing table for us. We have even already painted the nursery and hung up a few pictures I made. I came home from volleyball practice and Brad had moved the furniture back into place and cleaned up our painting mess. We hung up those little pictures and I almost cried. It was starting to look like a nursery and it was exciting.
Now at 18 weeks I enjoy dressing to show off my little bump. It's not much, but it's so cute and makes me smile whenever I see it. Brad has been super sweet about it, talking to my stomach, rubbing it, and just being so cute and sweet. It's even more exciting with how excited he is about it. We found out last week while my parents were in town the gender and while my mother was in town I had her help me take the sweetest gender reveal pictures ever. At the ultrasound we were worried it wouldn't behave, but our first shot was off it's little buttcheeks. I glanced over at my dad who I caught wiping away a tear and almost started crying too. Mom looked like a giddy child looking at the ultrasound. Such a sweet and exciting moment for everyone!
When the ultrasound tech said it's a girl, Brad looked at me and said "I told you so". He had several dreams that it was going to be a girl and he just always knew it was going to be a girl. So Daddy's Little Girl is having a little girl. It'll be the first girl on Brad's side of the family. Brad picked out her first name, Kathryn, and I chose the middle name after my paternal great grandmother Mattie.
I hope you all are having half as amazing of a few months as we have been!!
