Things that Make me Wanna Dance
Now that I'm 7 months pregnant, there's not so much dancing. However, there is still plenty that really puts me in a great mood. It's funny the things that are putting me into such a great mood lately may seem so trivial or lame, but who cares!?
After a few months I noticed my lower back and feet were always bothering me. As a teacher and a volleyball coach I am always on my feet. My shoes were sad and old, no more support left. Not to mention that everyday it seemed harder and harder to reach my laces. After watching my sister-in-law have to get her 9 year old son to tie her shoes I knew it was going to get worse. One day while trying to tie my own shoes I was complaining to my husband that my feet and back still hurt and I really needed to get new shoes, but I still had the issue of I could barely tie my own shoes. I didn't want to get slip on shoes because I wanted the support of a laced shoe. What was a girl to do!?
My genius husband said I needed Lock Laces. If you are not familiar with Lock Laces, they are elastic laces that have a drawstring for making them tighter. We bought my husband a set for his triathlons so he could slip his running shoes on and off quickly during transitions. I hadn't even thought of those for anything but running. So I finally got me my new better supported shoes and Lock Laces. If I ever start to have any back or feet pain I wear my shoes. Whenever we run errands I always insist on wearing my tennis shoes and it has greatly reduced my back, hip, knee, and feet pain.
At school I am in a windowless room which can be quite depressing at times. This year, I got approved for this beautiful plant stand which of course I immediately stocked up with some beautiful plants. This thing is amazing, I really do work for the coolest school ever. We can use it for projects, but between use I keep my plants on it to add some life to my otherwise dull room. One of my favorites is my Bromiliade. It's a tropical plant that typically only blooms once a year (or so I've been told). It was so beautiful and unique. All of my students and coworkers oooo-ed and ahhh-ed over it for days. Thankfully it was a slow blooming process (about a week) so I got to enjoy it for quite a while.
After my glucose tolerance test I didn't feel all the great so I wound up taking the entire day off. I felt like such a bum taking off work, but I really just didn't feel great. At home, in bed, I watched TV and finished grading my science essays. It was actually a very productive day for me. I even put up the dog blanket and let him up on the bed with me at my husbands dismay of course. It was so nice to share a lazy day with the kid again, I feel like between school and volleyball I don't get enough snuggles with him. Thankfully track out is coming very soon and he and I will get lots of lazy day snuggles before the baby comes!
Lastly, Brad and I (and I mean 99.9% Brad) finally painted our Master Bedroom and Master Bathroom. Our bathroom is this beautiful blue color while we kept our bedroom an off white. My husband was hesitant about the off white, but it makes an amazing transition into the blue bathroom and now when we buy anything for the room we don't have to worry about it matching the wall color. With the chestnut color we are staining our furniture and the turquoise and grey quilt and sheets we have it really stands out and looks beautiful. We were even able to find a play for the most beautiful sunflower picture painted by my husband's Step-Great Aunt. She was an awesome local painter who has been dead for quite a while now so her pieces are pretty hard to come by. Sunflowers are my favorite flower too so everytime I wake up to it I smile.
What has made you dance lately?
