Hi, I'm Amanda! Teacher, naturalist, wife, DIY lover, and home cook.  Thank you for checking out my blog!

The Big Nursery REVEAL

There's nothing like waiting 'til the last minute to have everything completely done, but it was really just the little tiny pieces that we needed to get slowly with each month's paycheck. We have had the important stuff for months now, but have finally gotten every little detail done. It's such a good feeling, now we just need the baby to get here--1 week to go ish.

We decided to go with a woodland theme and wanted it to be gender neutral because we plan on having 2 kids. This way we can continue to use the nursery for both kids without having to completely redecorate again.

Changing table-my old desk which my mother built the changing table attachment. I'm 6'0" and was not about to hunch over changing this wiggly thing so she made it perfect for my height. The trash can fits perfect where the chair used to go and the drawers are full of back up diapers, wipes, lotions, etc. My mother also quilted the changing table pad for us.

Hamper-Super cute canvas storage tote from my mom and her sister. Registered for it from Target.

Wall Hangings-Leftover random canvases+a few random stencils+me bored one weekend=much better than I thought they'd be artwork.

Paint-Valspar paint and primer in one. Think the color is Lilly Pad.

Crib-Hand me down from my sister's daughters. My mother made the beautiful quilt, sheet, and bumper. My mother also made the adorable felt woodland animal mobile.

Antique School Chair-Found it on Craigslist several years prior and just "had to have it"

Decal-Purchased this online from Wallums Decals. Application was super easy and it looks so beautiful.

Paint-Valspar paint and primer in one. Color is Vanillin. Wanted this to be our accent wall behind the crib and the decal really is what made it.

Curtains-My mother made the curtains for us (I'm sure you're getting tired of the phrase "my mother made it" by now), but I ordered the fabric from Spoonflower. Fell in love with it immediately and just used a cheap rod and hooks.

Bookshelf Bench-We made the bench because we couldn't find anywhere else to put a bookshelf and the room needed something under the window. My mother made the cushion for us and friends and family helped us stock the bookshelf. You can find the DIY here.

Wall Hangings-My sister made us the beautiful cross stitch baby announcement. Can't wait to give it back to her so she can fill in Kathryn's information. The letters we made out of 3/4" wall foam from Lowes and I painted. They are simply hung up with 3M velcro strips and stuck to the wall.

Chest of Drawers-Mine growing up, same set the desk/changing table came from.

Wall Hangings-I saw a painting of the fat raccoon and thought it was too cute and then thought I could make that. He's made from flannel fabric and a little goofy looking, but still cute. The wire picture we made ourselves and you can find the DIY here.

Clock-Clock is from Target.

Glider-Ordered the glider on Wayfair using a 10% coupon while it was on sale! Such a steal, but LOVE this chair. Mom made the super cute pillow. We were fabric shopping and found the adorable fox fabric and again "we just had to have it" so she made me a nursing pillow. The throw blanket I crocheted to fit a crib size for when she gets older using Lion Brand Homespun Yarn and just a basic double crochet stitch.

The closet in my opinion gets forgotten a lot of times when it comes to a nursery, but in fact it's possibly the most important part of your nursery. I did so much research to figure out how I wanted to organize my closet to make things easier for us when she is born.

Blankets-It's just a shoe organizer! I got mine from Target and organized the blankets by style. Not wanting to damage the door, my husband hung it on an otherwise unusable wall in the closet. Top 2 rows are my blankets, next 2 rows are receiving blankets, next row are burp cloths and waterproof pads, bottom row are the back up sheets and spare changing table sheets.

Diapers-Have them stacked by size ready to grab whenever she grows into that size. My mother made me the super cute diaper hanger which I have my next size up ready to go when needed in.

Wipes-Have one on my changing table, back up in a drawer of my changing table, and the rest are stacked ready to grab when needed in the closet.

Baskets-My mother and sister got me these super cute pink baskets where I have pacifiers/bibs in one and shoes in the other. Things she won't need for a little while are perfect for the baskets.

Clothes Organizers-My mother bought me these super cute rings that I have been able to hang on the closet pole to organize my clothes by age. This makes finding clothes much easier. I also have any of the clothes which are too big for her in a 3 drawer organizer. They are organized by size, so whenever she is ready for them I can just pull out the next set of clothes. I got mine from Target.

What do you think? Did you do anything differently? Did you find anything that you wouldn't do or didn't need?
